ICAEA INTERNATIONAL FORUM HOSTED BY TURKISH AVIATION ACADEMY HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER THE PROFESSIONALS OF AVIATION ENGLISH4/27/2015



Turkish Aviation Academy hosted 17th ICAEA International Forum of "Human Factors, Communications and Safety" on 27-28 April 2015. Well-known names in the field of aviation English from all over the world that shape the development of the sector participated in the conference, held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Sefaköy, Istanbul.


The conference took place with approximately 70 participants, and the opening speeches of the conference were given by ICAEA Vice President Terence Gerighty, the President of Turkish Aviation Academy Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Yüksek, and Language Training and Services Manager Muzaffer Özçelik. The conference, allowing the most current information sharing with presentations and workshops, was very efficient and productive. As well as the authorities of ICAEA and Turkish Airlines, the representatives of institutions and organizations such as Cathay Pacific Airways, ANAC, ATU, TAV Poland Air Forces Academy, Eurocontrol, ENAC, HAVAS, Istanbul Technical University, Yıldız Technical University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University took the floor in the conference.


Within the framework of Aviation English, issues forming the agenda of the conference such as, transfer of know-how, English language training, standards, qualifications, researches were conveyed via presentations made by professional speakers over two days. Some topics discussed at the conference are as follows; Culture and Language in Training, Role of Language in Human Factors and Crew Resource Management, Cross-Cultural Communications- Implications for Training and Safety, Communicating Situational Awareness, ATCO’s Tale of Communications, ‘Training Needs Beyond the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements.


Academy, as an indicator of its hospitality, offered guests an Istanbul tour, which prepared an environment for the development of friendly relations and continuation of cooperation meetings, on the first day of ICAEA International Forum hosted by Academy for the second time. The first stop of the trip was Emirgan Park, which takes its most beautiful form at this time of year, embellished with colorful tulips. After having a cocktail in Pink Pavilion, guests admired stunning views of Istanbul by Bosphorus tour taking about 3 hours.
